CLIT PIERCINGS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Christina Piercing Isabella Piercing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~MEN PIERCINGS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Visible piercings seem to be more and more common in people of all genders on campus, but what about those not-so-visible bod mod’s? Piercings in more, ahem, sensitive places, are rising in popularity, even though many people don’t really talk about them. A growing number of people are getting oral, nipple and genital piercings both for aesthetic reasons and increased sexual sensitivity. Considering getting something pierced? Looking for something that will enhance sexual pleasure for you or your partners? Here are some of the many options for body modifications and what they can do for you and your bedmates. Penis*: There are many different ways and places to get penises pierced with varied benefits and risks. Ampallang and Apadravya: This is a piercing through the head of the penis. The Ampallang is when the barbell goes through the head horizontally, whereas the Apadravya is when it crosses vertically. Sometimes the two are combined to form a cross. In addition to be visually arousing, it can introduce new textures and sensations for both the owner and the partner during oral and penetrative sex.The benefit of the up and down orientation of Apadravya is that it is perfectly positioned to stimulate a partner’s g-spot or prostate! These are less common because of the difficulty of the execution of the piercing (make sure your piercer is certified and has good reviews!). The Ampallang takes an average of 6-9 months to heal. While the Apadravya has a slightly shorter healing time at 3-6 months, the top part may take longer to heal. Dydoe: This piercing is best suited for circumcised penises, because it goes through the ridge of the head. It is said to enhance sensitivity and compensate for sexual pleasure that is lost due to circumcision. This piercing is very often done in pairs or multiples, and has a relatively shorter healing period of 3-4 months. Foreskin: As the name implies, this can only be performed on an uncircumcised penis. Many penises report enhanced pleasure, and the jewelry itself provides additional stimulation for the receptive partner. There is a pretty low risk for infection, and an average healing time of 3-4 months. Prince Albert: This is the most famous of the penis piercings, which goes into the urethra and out the side of the head of the penis. It greatly increases sensitivity for the penis, and depending on it’s placement can stimulate a receptive partner’s g-spot or prostate. Because of the low risks for complications and relative simplicity of piercing and short healing time of 4-6 weeks, this is one of the more common penis modifications. Guiche (Perineum): Done just behind the scrotum, this piercing can provide extra indirect stimulation of the prostate. But: it comes with higher risks of complications, so be sure to give it lots of tender loving care! The average healing time (with proper hygiene) is 6-9 months, but this may take longer if you frequently ride horses, motorcycles or bikes. Vulva*: Labia: Piercing the labia provides visual stimulation for the owner and their partners, and can provide external stimulation to the clit because of it’s close proximity to it. It can be done on the inner or outer labia, and they have a relatively low risk of complications when properly cared for. The inner labia takes about 6-8 weeks to heal, and the outer (because it can rub on clothing or partners) takes a little longer at 3-4 months. Clitoral Hood: With many of the same benefits of the labia piercing, the hood piercing will provide external stimulation for the clit during all sorts of activities (including just walkin’ around!) This piercing, because it does not go through the beloved clit itself, does not pose a risk to injuring nerves and if properly done should not interfere with a female-bodied person’s ability to achieve orgasm. While the hood can be pierced vertically or horizontally, most vulvas are more anatomically suited to one or the other, and your piercer will most likely recommend which one is best for you. Vertical piercings usually use jewelry similar to a navel ring, while horizontal piercings typically use a ring. This piercing has about the same healing time as the labia at 3-4 months. Clitoris: This piercing actually goes behind and through the clit itself. Not every vagina is suited for this piercing: vulvas having more prominent clits with looser hoods are the best candidates for this modification. But if it is right for your body, it results in increased sensitivity and in many cases increase in clitoral size. When looking for a piercer, especially for this particular mod, do your research! If done improperly it can lead to loss of sensation and interfere with a person’s ability to reach orgasm. When properly pierced and cared for, healing time sits at about 4-6 weeks. *A short period of abstinence and the use of a barrier method until the piercing is fully healed is essential for proper care of all genital piercings.
